Pero he de salir si o si y con una nueva ilusión por llegar a Rabanal del Camino ya que allí me esperan los hermanos Perez – MESÓN EL REFUGIO- y el resto del equipo a los que llevo saludando, también, desde hace 5 años. A veces en Mayo, otras en Septiembre y alguna vez ambos meses en el mismo año.

El firme por el que andaremos es una senda cómoda. En algunos puntos, en caso de haber llovido días atrás puede haber barro. Sobretodo unos kilómetros antes de llegar a Rabanal puede estar muy mal y es mejor salir a la carretera para evitar llenarse de barro. La carretera paralela al camino no suele estar muy transitada, de todas formas el arcén es amplio y teniendo cuidado, no presenta peligro alguno. Las subidas son muy suaves, sin importantes desniveles. Hay zonas de sombra, pero muchos tramos están desprotegidos del sol, son abiertos y sin vegetación alta. Encontramos varias poblaciones donde parar a tomar algo. No es necesario llevar mucha agua ya que se puede acceder a fuentes en las poblaciones entre etapas.

En el mes de Mayo, al igual que en Septiembre, empezamos a ver muchos más peregrinos que días atrás o etapas anteriores. A Astorga se puede llegar en tren desde diferentes puntos de la geografía española. A León llegan vuelas ya que hay un aeropuerto en Valverde de la Virgen (a 6 km de la Capital). Todo ello facilita un mayor flujo de peregrinos ya en estas etapas hasta Santiago de Compostela.
In the month of May, as in September, we began to see many more pilgrims than days ago or previous stages. Astorga can be reached by train from different points of the Spanish geography. A Leon arrive flying as there is an airport in Valverde de la Virgen (6 km from the Capital). All this facilitates a greater flow of pilgrims already in these stages to Santiago de Compostela.
A lo largo de estos años que repito estas etapas hasta Santiago de Compostela, he conseguido hacer amistad con algunas personas que regentan o trabajan en los lugares donde me alojo habitualmente y, en concreto, en estas próximas etapas tengo 5 amigas a las que he propuesto organizar una cena «solo para mujeres» en un punto intermedio entre Rabanal del Camino y Vega de Valcarce entre los días 14 y 18 que estaré andando en esta zona de León.
Throughout these years I repeat these stages to Santiago de Compostela, I have managed to make friends with some people who run or work in the places where I usually stay and, specifically, in these next stages I have 5 friends to whom I have proposed organize a dinner «only for women» in an intermediate point between Rabanal del Camino and Vega de Valcarce between days 14 and 18 that I will be walking in this area of León.
No se hicieron rogar las amigas ya que el mismo día que llegaba a Rabanal del Camino ya teníamos organizada la cena en el Restaurante la Violeta de Ponferrada. Una cena extraordinaria que nos sirvieron. Para acompañar los variados platos de primero que pedimos para compartir, un Cava bien frío y seguimos compartiendo los segundos, los postres y los momentos tan maravillosos durante la velada que no la alargamos porque todas teníamos obligaciones al día siguiente. (yo caminar, que no es trabajar).
The friends did not ask to beg since the same day that arrived at Rabanal del Camino we had already organized the dinner at the Restaurante la Violeta de Ponferrada. An extraordinary dinner that we were served. To accompany the varied dishes of first that we asked to share, a Cava very cold and we continued sharing the seconds, the desserts and the wonderful moments during the evening that we did not extend it because we all had obligations the following day. Así acabó el día, entre risas y anécdotas. Las vivencias en el camino son únicas. Momentos que no podré olvidar nunca, amigas para siempre.
Thus ended the day, between laughter and anecdotes. The experiences on the road are unique. Moments that I can never forget, friends forever.
