Después del desayuno en Hotel LOS TEMPLARIOS, donde me tocaba despedirme de mi amiga Pilar, salí de nuevo a caminar, con tristeza por la despedida que a medida que andaba compartía espacio en mis pensamientos con el recibimiento que me haría Pilo al llegar a Vilafranca del Bierzo.
After breakfast at Hotel LOS TEMPLARIOS, where I had to say goodbye to my friend Pilar, I left again to walk, saddened by the farewell that as I walked I shared space in my thoughts with the reception Pilo would give me when I arrived in Vilafranca. Bierzo
La etapa de unos 24 km es cómoda. Salimos de Ponferrada por una zona nueva, con un parque y unas viviendas unifamiliares elegantes. Seguimos por camino asfaltado largo rato hasta encontrar la primera población con todos los servicios, Camponaraya. Atravesamos el núcleo urbano por una cómoda acera hasta que las señales nos desvían por un sendero hasta volver a cruzar otra carretera que nos lleva hasta Cacabelos. Antes de la entrada hay un área de descanso con fuente donde descansar antes de la bajada que nos llevará, paso a paso, al centro de Cacabelos. Destacar que en la entrada hay un lugar emblemático, donde poder comer, comprar artesanía local y otros productos y alojarse, también. La Moncloa de San Lázaro es un fructífero negocio que atrae a los peregrinos y turistas.
The stage of about 24 km is comfortable. We left Ponferrada for a new area, with a park and elegant single-family homes. We continue along paved road for a long time until we find the first town with all services, Camponaraya. We cross the urban center by a comfortable sidewalk until the signs take us down a path until we cross another road that takes us to Cacabelos. Before the entrance there is a rest area with a fountain to rest before the descent that will take us, step by step, to the center of Cacabelos. Note that at the entrance there is an emblematic place, where you can eat, buy local crafts and other products and stay, too. The Moncloa de San Lázaro is a fruitful business that attracts pilgrims and tourists.

Es imposible resistirse ante la puerta de la Pulpería Compostela, la más famosa del Bierzo, en la calle mayor de Cacabelos y tenía hambre a pesar de la temprana hora. Reconozco que el pulpo no me gusta pero entrar allí, me encanta. Siempre puedo pedir otras cosas que no sea pulpo.
It is impossible to resist before the door of the Pulpería Compostela, the most famous of the Bierzo, in the main street of Cacabelos and was hungry despite the early hour. I recognize that I do not like the octopus but to go in there, I love it. I can always ask for other things than octopus.
Mi siguiente parada era el Micro-Hostal LA PUERTA DEL PERDÓN en Vilafranca del Bierzo y deseaba llegar temprano para saludar a Pilo, su propietaria y buena amiga aunque aún me quedaban 8 kilómetros por delante. El camino es dificultoso si hace sol y calor ya que pasamos entre campos de vid y lógicamente, las sombras escasean. Una caseta en el camino anuncia que llegamos a Vilafranca del Bierzo…..

Lo que más me maravilló de esta mujer emprendedora y valiente es que tuvo tiempo para salir a cenar conmigo. Fuimos al «Casino», un bar en la plaza más concurrida, frente al Ayuntamiento. Recomiendo, si seguís mis consejos, que no os perdáis las croquetas caseras, que están deliciosas, pero no superan a las que hace Pilo en LA PUERTA DEL PERDÓN, donde comer es un deleite para el paladar. Grande amiga y Gran CHEF.
What amazes me most of this enterprising and courageous woman is that she had time to go out to dinner with me. We went to the «Casino», a bar in the busiest square, in front of the Town Hall. I recommend, if you follow my advice, that you do not miss the homemade croquettes, which are delicious, but they do not surpass those that Pilo does in LA PUERTA DEL PERDÓN, where eating is a delight for the palate.
