La etapa que me espera es de asfalto puro y duro. Tengo por delante 18 km.  Un paisaje de naturaleza que ameniza algo andar sobre cemento. Camino paralelo a carretera y al inicio una prolongada subida que tras dejar atrás Vilafranca del Bierzo es llano hasta Vega de Valcarce. Unos pilotes de hormigón nos separan de la carretera. Pasamos por varias poblaciones por las que nos desvían las flechas amarillas y nos llevan a caminar por el interior de estos pueblos, para volver a salir a la N-VI.

The stage that awaits me is pure and hard asphalt. I have 18 km ahead. A landscape of nature that brightens something walking on cement. Road parallel to the road and at the beginning a prolonged climb that after leaving behind Vilafranca del Bierzo is flat until Vega de Valcarce. Concrete piles separate us from the road. We pass through several towns through which the yellow arrows deviate and lead us to walk through the interior of these towns, to go back to the N-VI.

La música, nuevamente, es mi mejor compañera y me ayuda a andar a un buen ritmo para no desesperarme por la monotonía del asfalto. Evito los desvíos que nos llevan a recorrer más metros y volver al asfalto de la carretera, así que en estos tramos de arcén sin protección de hormigón, debo andar con precaución. Antes de desviarnos por una Comarcal asfaltada hasta llegar a Vega de Valcarce, hay un área de descanso y es el único tramo, por no haber querido entrar en las poblaciones junto al camino, donde puedes encontrar intimidad para ir al baño más natural y salvaje que se pueda encontrar. El ruido del río Valcarce que nos acompaña al lado derecho del camino en casi todo el tiempo queda inaccesible por la vegetación frondosa. He intentado buscar algún sitio más discreto pero ha sido imposible en las dos últimas horas.

Me ha llamado la atención un desvío nuevo que no había visto en otros peregrinajes anteriores, cerca de San Fiz de Seo y por lo que he podido comprobar por la noche, ya que Blanca me llevó a cenar allí, es un lugar nuevo y muy aconsejable para resaltarlo en mi BLOG. Tengo la suerte de contar con grandes amigas en las etapas que vengo haciendo y, hace 5 días ya que se preocupan a diario, vía whatsapp, de mi dolor de estómago y me van animando paso a paso. Hoy necesitaré algo especial para comer ya que de lo contrario tendré que tomar algún fármaco para estabilizar mis digestiones. Blanca, de EL RECANTO, una Casa Rural con mucho encanto a la que voy siempre que hago este peregrinaje, me ha propuesto comer en su casa un arroz blanco y una pechuga de pollo. Amigas así son lo mejor de mi peregrinaje. Gracias a ellas, y en particular a Blanca en esta etapa, podré seguir lo que me queda hasta Santiago de Compostela, plenamente recuperada, no lo dudo.

Llegar a Vega de Valcarce y en particular a EL RECANTO, es como sentirme en casa. Después de comer he hecho la colada. Llevaba días esperando usar el servicio de  lavadora de esta Casa Rural porque me encanta el tendedero y el pequeño jardín delantero, donde descanso al sol en una tumbona mientras la ropa se seca al aire libre. Aprovecho para ver pasar a otros peregrinos que optan por pernoctar más arriba y algunos, supongo, se atreven a finalizar su etapa en O Cebreiro. En 2013 hice esos 28 kilómetros desde Vilafranca del Bierzo a O Cebreiro y me juré no hacerlo más. Así que me dosifico las energías para no llegar agotada y no poder disfrutar, por el cansancio, de las maravillosas vistas y naturaleza que me rodea en la subida a O Cebreiro. Mañana haré una de las etapas más emblemáticas del peregrinaje, pero lo haré andando solo 12 kilómetros.

No puedo acabar este Post sin hacer mención de la excursión que me propuso, y acepté hacer, con Blanca, de Casa Rural El Recanto. A escasos 6 km de Vega de Valcarce y por una carretera que no tiene pocas curvas, ascendimos en coche, hasta una localidad bucólica, idílica. BALBOA es una localidad y Municipio leonés de la Comarca del Bierzo. Se encuentra situado en el valle del río Balboa, en la subcomarca del Valle del Valcarce. Es uno de los municipios leoneses en los que se habla gallego.

I can not finish this Post without mentioning the excursion that he proposed, and I agreed to do, with Blanca, from Casa Rural El Recanto. Just 6 km from Vega de Valcarce and by a road that has few curves, we climbed by car, to a bucolic, idyllic town. BALBOA is a town and municipality of León in the Comarca del Bierzo. It is located in the valley of the Balboa River, in the sub-county of Valcarce Valley. It is one of the Leonese municipalities in which Galician is spoken.

Es muy pintoresco. Un Museo da la bienvenida al visitante, «La Casa de las Gentes», que era un polideportivo en desuso al que se le han hecho trabajos en madera en su interior y además se exponen otras obras realizadas por un lugareño, talladas en madera de forma muy original. No tuve ocasión de conocer al artista pero pude disfrutar de la visita al Museo de la mano de una mujer muy amable que nos acompañó en la visita y el conocimiento del lugar de mi amiga Blanca, que me explicó con todo detalle lo que tanto me maravillaba. Digno de visitar si hay tiempo y forma de llegar hasta allí. Un lugar con mucho encanto que debe conocerse.
