Si tuviera que calificar las etapas del Camino de Santiago Francés, esta sería la más BONITA…..

If I had to qualify the stages of the Camino de Santiago Francés, this would be the most BONITA ….

Los 21 kilómetros que tiene esta etapa se deberían andar poco a poco para poder disfrutar del paisaje y el sendero. Con la nueva vía que se ha hecho al salir de O Cebreiro cambia totalmente el paisaje  hasta llegar a Liñares. Considero que la señalización en esta salida no está claramente indicada. La mayoría de peregrinos que salían a la par que yo se fueron por el camino antiguo. Me  consta que en Septiembre de 2017 aún no estaba acabado todo el trazado. Se camina paralelo a la LU-651 pero carenando la montaña. Además de estar muy bien pedaltada, hay zonas delimitadas con unos barandillas de madera y tiene pequeñas subidas y bajadas además de curvas, según la misma carretera, pero al amparo de la vegetación tupida de la montaña por la que han hecho esta nueva pista.

The 21 kilometers of this stage should be walked little by little to enjoy the landscape and the path. With the new road that has been made when leaving O Cebreiro, the landscape changes completely until reaching Liñares. I consider that the signaling in this exit is not clearly indicated. The majority of pilgrims who went out along with me went down the old road. I know that in September of 2017 the whole route was not finished yet. It walks parallel to the LU-651 but careening the mountain. In addition to being well controlled, there are areas with wooden rails and small rises and descents as well as curves, according to the same road, but protected by the dense vegetation of the mountain for which they have made this new track.

Siempre me emociona llegar al Alto de San Roque. Es uno de los monumentos emblemáticos del peregrinaje por la vía francesa. Enseguida llegamos, tras otra pronunciada subida, al Alto del Poio. Allí es casi obligado parar para descansar y recuperar fuerzas. Seguiremos junto a la LU-651 por un arcén debidamente señalizado para los peregrinos. Volveremos a entrar en una zona boscosa y divisaremos el valle a lo largo del resto del camino hasta casi llegar a Triacastela, que nos vuelven a hacer bajar por una zona de bosque que nos asegura sombra cuando andamos cerca de mediodía y el sol brilla en el cielo.

I‘m always excited to get to Alto de San Roque. It is one of the emblematic monuments of the pilgrimage through the French route. Then we arrive, after another steep climb, to Alto del Poio. There is almost forced to stop to rest and recover strength. We will continue along the LU-651 through a shoulder marked for the pilgrims. We will go back into a wooded area and we will see the valley along the rest of the way until we almost reach Triacastela, which we go back down through a forest area that ensures shade when we walk near noon and the sun shines on the heaven.

A unos 3 km. antes de Triacastela, en Fillobal, a mano derecha, hay un Restaurante moderno y muy acogedor, con una buena terraza delante y detrás con sombrillas o al sol, si se prefiere, donde suelen hacer un gazpacho buenísimo. Es AIRA DO CAMIÑO.

About 3 km. before Triacastela, in Fillobal, on the right, there is a modern and very cozy restaurant, with a good terrace in front and behind with umbrellas or in the sun, if you prefer, where they usually make a great gazpacho. It’s AIRA DO CAMIÑO.

Acostumbro a parar a comer aquí siempre que puedo. En Septiembre de 2017 íbamos con una chica colombiana que se lesionó en Vega de Valcarce y a pesar de haber ido al médico de Ponferrada para que valoraran la lesión solo le dijeron que descansara 24h como medida de precaución. Pero el morado que le salió en la frente era tan descomunal que los mismo dueños del Restaurante se preocuparon por su aspecto y se ofrecieron amablemente a acompañarla de nuevo  a un Centro de Salud para que la viera un médico, de nuevo, en Sarria.

I usually stop to eat here whenever I can. In September of 2017 we went with a Colombian girl who was injured in Vega de Valcarce and despite having gone to the doctor in Ponferrada to assess the injury, she was only told to rest for 24 hours as a precaution. But the purple that came out on her forehead was so huge that the owners of the restaurant were concerned about their appearance and kindly offered to accompany her back to a Health Center for a doctor to see her, again, in Sarria.

Así que esta vez paré, básicamente, para agradecerles su preocupación por esta peregrina Colombiana a la que pude visitar en Medellín en febrero, aprovechando que iba a Cartagena de Indias pasando por la Capital, Bogotá, y una estancia corta en Medellín y nos hicimos unas fotos juntas que les mostré a ellos. Recordaban a la peregrina lesionada porque a pesar del golpe tan grande y el morado de su cara, es una chica guapísima. Las amistades que se hacen en el camino suelen ser muy entrañables, difícilmente y gracias a las redes sociales, no pierdes el contacto con la mayoría de estas personas. Es tan intenso lo que vives en el camino que se graba en el corazón y la memoria para siempre…..

So this time I stopped, basically, to thank you for your concern for this Colombian pilgrim that I was able to visit in Medellin in February, taking advantage of the fact that I was going to Cartagena de Indias passing through the Capital, Bogotá, and a short stay in Medellín and we made some photos together that I showed to them. They remembered the injured pilgrim because despite the big blow and the purple of her face, she is a beautiful girl. The friendships that are made along the way are usually very endearing, hard and thanks to social networks, you do not lose contact with most of these people. It is so intense what you live on the path that is recorded in the heart and memory forever …..

Sorprende la entrada a Triacastela porque andamos metidos entre bosque y naturaleza tupida y verde que no deja ver el final que ya está por llegar.

The entrance to Triacastela is surprising because we are surrounded by forest and dense, green nature that does not allow us to see the end that is about to come.

Lo primero que encontramos a la izquierda es un albergue junto al río. Y a la derecha un Bar Restaurante donde paramos la mayoría que llegamos sedientos. Una cerveza fresca sienta de maravilla.

The first thing we find on the left is a hostel by the river. And on the right a Bar Restaurant where we stopped most who arrived thirsty. A fresh beer feels great.

Tengo que llegar hasta Casa Lemos, junto al camino a mitad de pueblo, más o menos. Está muy visible el sitio de hoy. Esta es la tercera vez que me alojo en esta Pensión-Albergue de nueva construcción con mucho encanto. Las personas que la dirigen son muy amables y el lugar está muy limpio y sus instalaciones son muy modernas y luminosas. Dispone de una terraza con mobiliario para poder tomar el sol y tender la ropa, muy cómodo el espacio y amplio con una vista de la población y el río muy interesante.

I have to get to Casa Lemos, next to the road halfway through town, more or less. The site of today is very visible. This is the third time that I stay in this newly built Guest-Hostel with a lot of charm. The people who run it are very friendly and the place is very clean and its facilities are very modern and bright. It has a terrace with furniture for sunbathing and clothes, very comfortable and spacious with a view of the population and the river very interesting.

Un paseo por la tarde junto al río para llegar a la hora de cenar con apetito, porque en el Restaurante Esther los platos son muy completos y está todo muy apetecible. Con Esther tengo una muy buena relación desde hace años y me encanta visitarla cuando estoy en Triacastela, además de cenar siempre que puedo en su Restaurante. Las noches ya se alargan en Mayo y la terraza es un lugar con encanto para deleitar un buen plato combinado de los que prepara Esther.

An afternoon walk along the river to arrive at dinner time with appetite, because in the Esther Restaurant the dishes are very complete and everything is very appetizing. With Esther I have a very good relationship for years and I love visiting her when I’m in Triacastela, as well as having dinner whenever I can in her restaurant. The nights are already lengthening in May and the terrace is a charming place to enjoy a good mixed dish prepared by Esther.
