Etapa que no acabé en Palas Do Rei. Por norma general, pasan a recoger a los peregrinos que nos alojamos en CASA ROAN (Clicar aquí para entrar en su página web). Pero ya son muchas las veces que voy a este maravilloso lugar y se que hay un camino muy cómodo y bonito por el que puedo llegar por mi propio pie, así que decidí hacer el paseo, después de comer en Casa Mariluz, andar los 3 kilómetros que hay desde el desvío en Airexe hacia Casa Roan que está muy bien señalizado para los peregrinos que van en bicicleta.

Stage that I did not finish in Palas Do Rei. As a general rule, they go to pick up the pilgrims who stayed at CASA ROAN (Click here to enter their website). But there are many times I go to this wonderful place and I know that there is a very comfortable and beautiful way by which I can get by my own foot, so I decided to do the walk, after eating at Casa Mariluz, walk the 3 kilometers that there is from the detour in Airexe to Casa Roan that is very well signposted for the pilgrims who go by bicycle.

Inicié el peregrinaje de este día saliendo de Portomarín siguiendo las señalizaciones que nos hacen atravesar la población y salir bajando a la carretera por el otro lado. Para mi, este tramo era dar una vuelta innecesaria, pero seguir a otros peregrinos me gusta, sobretodo en las salidas, ya que voy sola. La etapa de hoy es de más de 25 kilómetros ya que  los 4 primeros no se contabilizan. Esto es así, ya que vamos encontrando a lo largo de estos primeros kilómetros, los típicos pilares que nos indican los kilómetros que faltan hasta Santiago de Compostela y en lugar de poner el kilometraje, ponía «complementario». Cosa que ya va siendo habitual desde que entramos en Galicia. Cuando cambian el recorrido o entramos en la población donde finaliza la etapa, no se contabilizan los kilómetros o metros que andas por el interior y al día siguiente, retomas el camino donde lo dejaste y así vuelves a seguir descontando kilómetros hasta Santiago.

I started the pilgrimage of this day leaving Portomarín following the signs that make us cross the town and go down to the road on the other side. For me, this section was to give an unnecessary return, but I like other pilgrims I like, especially in the exits, since I go alone. Today’s stage is more than 25 kilometers since the first 4 are not counted. This is so, since we are finding along these first kilometers, the typical pillars that indicate us the kilometers that are missing until Santiago de Compostela and instead of putting the mileage, it was «complementary». Thing that is already usual since we entered Galicia. When you change the route or enter the town where the stage ends, do not count the kilometers or meters that you walk through the interior and the next day, you take the road where you left it and so you continue to discount kilometers to Santiago.

Se empieza la etapa adentrándonos en un bosque frondoso y de tierra que suelen arreglar cuando las lluvias lo han dejado intransitable. Más adelante andaremos paralelos a una carretera hasta pasar una zona industrial y encontraremos el primer bar (a la altura de Gonzar) donde la mayoría de peregrinos paran para sellar su credencial (e ir al baño). Después del comentario de una monja en una iglesia donde paré a sellar, que me dijo que llevaba demasiados sellos de bares y pocos de iglesias, procuro no poner tantos sellos en  bares, pero es difícil encontrar abiertas las iglesias a la hora en que salimos a caminar.

The stage begins in a leafy forest and land that usually fix when the rain has left impassable. Later we will walk parallel to a road until we pass an industrial zone and we will find the first bar (at the height of Gonzar) where the majority of pilgrims stop to seal their credentials (and go to the bathroom). After the comment of a nun in a church where I stopped to seal, she told me that she had too many stamps of bars and few of churches, I try not to put so many stamps in bars, but it is difficult to find the churches open at the time we go out to walk.

Dicho esto, seguiremos el camino adentrándonos de nuevo por una zona boscosa con una carretera poco transitada donde hay un arcén amplio para los peregrinos. En esta ocasión aprecio que la afluencia de peregrinos es mayor que otros años. Y el paisaje es algo triste porque aún se ve la huella de los incendios del año pasado. La niebla, además, no contribuye a disfrutar el paisaje primaveral.

Having said that, we will follow the path back into a wooded area with a little-traveled road where there is a wide shoulder for pilgrims. On this occasion I appreciate that the influx of pilgrims is greater than other years. And the landscape is a sad thing because you can still see the trace of last year’s fires. The fog also does not help to enjoy the spring landscape.

En esta etapa cruzamos varias veces la carretera porque nos envían de un lado a otro no se porqué motivo. Hasta los 16 kilómetros andados no llegamos a Ligonde, que ya pertenece al Concello de Monterroso. Y después de bajar entre unos muros que separan los campos que nos rodean, volvemos a caminar junto a la carretera con arcén para el peregrino que deberá andar por el margen izquierdo con precaución. De inmediato veremos un Bar con un  jardín muy llamativo. Ahí suelo parar a comer y descansar. Y en esta ocasión hice lo mismo.

In this stage we cross the road several times because they send us from one place to another, no reason why. Up to the 16 kilometers traveled, we did not reach Ligonde, which already belongs to the Concello de Monterroso. And after descending between some walls that separate the fields that surround us, we return to walk next to the highway with hard shoulder for the pilgrim who will have to walk by the left margin with caution. We will immediately see a Bar with a very striking garden. There I usually stop to eat and rest. And this time I did the same.

En Airexe, la siguiente población que encontramos después de la comida en Casa Mariluz, yo me desvío del camino a Palas Do Rei que seguirá junto a la carretera hasta destino. Mi opción es más tranquila, en cuanto a peregrinos, porque me daba la impresión de estar haciendo una procesión en lugar del peregrinaje. Ningún año he encontrado tantos peregrinos andando juntos en una etapa. O habíamos salido todos a la misma hora, cosa improbable, o este año es de locura¡¡.

In Airexe, the next town that we found after lunch at Casa Mariluz, I turn off the path to Palas Do Rei, which will continue along the road to the destination. My option is calmer, in terms of pilgrims, because it gave me the impression of making a procession instead of the pilgrimage. No year I have met so many pilgrims walking together in one stage. Or we had all left at the same time, something unlikely, or this year is crazy!

Una vez en Casa Roan, descansé en mi habitación, cómoda, amplia y decorada con un gusto exquisito y conservando el estilo de toda la finca, rústico y noble. Más tarde bajé al salón donde tienen la chimenea para encontrarme con otros peregrinos allí alojados y degustar un vino, gentileza de la casa que siempre ofrecen, amablemente, para la ocasión. Conocí a un matrimonio colombiano, ambos médicos, con los que conversé largo rato.

Once in Casa Roan, I rested in my room, comfortable, spacious and decorated with an exquisite taste and preserving the style of the whole farm, rustic and noble. Later I went down to the living room where they have the fireplace to meet other pilgrims staying there and taste a wine, kindness of the house they always offer, kindly, for the occasion. I met a Colombian couple, both doctors, with whom I talked for a long time.

La cena casera que ofrecen Pilar y José Manuel en su casa es, siempre, muy rica y muy completa. Suelen servir mucha cantidad así que hay que ir con cuidado por la digestión…

The homemade dinner offered by Pilar and José Manuel at home is always very rich and very complete. They tend to serve a lot, so you have to be careful with your digestion…

Al estar la Casa apartada de población, entre campos, la tarde se pasa visitando los alrededores o charlando plácidamente en el porche con otros peregrinos. La finca es grande y muy bien acondicionada para poder entretenerte viendo el lugar.

As the house is separated from the population, between fields, the afternoon is spent visiting the surroundings or chatting peacefully on the porch with other pilgrims. The farm is large and very well equipped to entertain you while watching the place.
