Esta etapa debería acortarse. A los 33 km que distan desde la salida de León hasta la entrada de Hospital de Órbigo hay que añadirles los que se hacen desde los respectivos Hoteles -salida y llegada-.

En Mayo las temperaturas pueden alcanzar los 30º tranquilamente y esto hace de la etapa una pesadilla. Caminar sin sombras, por caminos paralelos a la carretera, sin fuentes y sin áreas de descanso se convierte en una pesadilla cuando cae el sol de mediodía. Tampoco encontré en los 4 pueblos por los que se pasa, un Restaurante apropiado. Acabé comprando frutos secos y una barra energética, además de varios botellines de agua para evitar una deshidratación. Parece imposible pero gasté más de 10 euros en agua. Opté por botellines pequeños porque el peso parece multiplicarse en la mochila después de andar kilómetros.

In May the temperatures can reach 30º calmly and this makes of the stage a nightmare. Walking without shadows, along roads parallel to the road, without fountains and without rest areas becomes a nightmare when the midday sun falls. I also did not find in the 4 villages that are passed, an appropriate Restaurant. I ended up buying nuts and an energy bar, plus several bottles of water to avoid dehydration. It seems impossible but I spent over 10 euros in water. I opted for small bottles because the weight seems to multiply in the backpack after walking miles.

La cuestión es que llegué a destino «enferma». Tuve que pedir asistencia médica y una vez recuperada, fui incapaz de salir a visitar esta localidad. Pasé la tarde en la habitación, entre la ducha y la cama.

The point is that I arrived at a «sick» destination. I had to ask for medical assistance and once recovered, I was unable to go out and visit this locality. I spent the afternoon in the room, between the shower and the bed.

Al día siguiente NO PUDE HACER LA ETAPA DE HOSPITAL DE ÓRBIGO A ASTORGA y salí del Hotel a media mañana y en taxi.

En todo caso, los palos, la credencial, la mochila y la capelina, no los olvides.

Como me sentí muy indispuesta tras finalizar la etapa, seguí el consejo de la responsable del Hotel donde me alojé este día y envié una instancia a la Diputación de León. La respuesta está en este enlace.

En cuanto a la información de esta etapa, en internet:

Amplias avenidas conducen desde los albergues al Hostal de San Marcos, a orillas del río Bernesga. Otros cinco kilómetros urbanos, incluido un polígono, acercan hasta la Virgen del Camino, a cuya salida se decide si continuar por la variante de Villar de Mazarife o por el Camino Francés más histórico. Este último progresa por el páramo, siempre a la vera de la N-120, y atraviesa Valverde de la Virgen, San Miguel del Camino y Villadangos del Páramo. Bajo el ritmo machacón que marca el camino paralelo a la N-120, se llega hasta Puente Órbigo para salvar el afluente del Esla por el mítico puente del Passo Honroso.
