Esta etapa tiene dos caminos para llegar a Sarria. La opción de hacerlo por San Xil es más corta. Tiene 18 km aproximadamente y por Samos, andaremos unos 24 km. Ambas son cómodas y con amplios senderos. Paisajísticamente es más bonito el sendero que pasa por San Xil pero dejaremos de ver el emblemático Monasterio de Samos.

This stage has two ways to get to Sarria. The option to do it for San Xil is shorter. It has 18 km approximately and for Samos, we will walk about 24 km. Both are comfortable and with wide trails. Paisajísticamente is more beautiful the path that passes by San Xil but we will stop to see the emblematic Monastery of Samos.

Importante comprobar la previsión meteorológica antes de cerrar la maleta para llevar en la mochila lo más imprescindible, como los palos, la credencial, la capelina, si va a llover y la gorra. El calzado estará determinado por el tiempo. Si el tiempo es bueno y no está mojado el firme, mejor el transpirable.

Ambas rutas llegan a encontrarse antes de llegar a Sarria. La entrada en esta localidad se hace por un camino paralelo a la carretera. Sorprende lo grande que es esta población y la afluencia de peregrinos que llega hasta esta localidad para iniciar su peregrinaje, realizando los últimos 110 km por los que obtendrán la Compostela al llegar a Santiago de Compostela, como la obtendrán todos aquellos que hayan andado desde puntos más alejados.

Both routes meet before arriving in Sarria. The entrance in this locality is made by a road parallel to the road. It is surprising how great this population is and the influx of pilgrims that arrives to this locality to begin their pilgrimage, realizing the last 110 km by which will get the Compostela when arriving at Santiago de Compostela, as will all those who have walked from points farthest.

Si he de aconsejar qué camino escoger para llegar a Sarria, tengo un problema. Como los he hecho ya ambos, me cuesta distinguir cúal es más bonito. Siempre puede imperar la lógica y con ello quiero decir que la visita al Monasterio de Samos deberá realizarse al llegar a esta población para seguir luego por el camino hasta final de etapa, en Sarria. El horario de visita del Monasterio es incompatible con el planteamiento de visitarlo y seguir después caminando.

If I have to advise which way to go to Sarria, I have a problem. As I have done both already, I can not distinguish which is more beautiful. Logic can always prevail and by this I mean that the visit to the Monastery of Samos should be done when arriving to this town to continue then by the way until end of stage, in Sarria. The visiting hours of the Monastery is incompatible with the approach of visiting it and continue after walking.

En mi caso, en 2015 decidí andar desde O Cebreiro  hasta Samos y al día siguiente modifiqué también la etapa, alargando de Sarria a Morgade. La cuestión es que pude visitar el fabuloso Monasterio de San Julián de Samos y dormí en esta localidad.

In my case, in 2015 I decided to walk from O Cebreiro to Samos and the next day I also modified the stage, extending from Sarria to Morgade. The issue is that I was able to visit the fabulous Monastery of San Julián de Samos and I slept in this locality.
